Vista by LLumar Mirage Safety V38 SR PS8: Purpose and Appearance

Vista by LLumar Mirage Safety V38 SR PS8 pairs an 8-mil safety and security window film with the look of Vista’s Mirage V38, a dual-reflective film. It is designed to help hold broken glass fragments together after impact while also rejecting solar heat and glare. On the manufacturer’s 1/8-inch clear test glass it transmits 39% of visible light.

Film does not prevent glass from breaking and is not bulletproof. Forced-entry, storm or other specified protection depends on the complete tested glazing system, including the glass, frame and attachment method where required. OOVO reviews these requirements before recommending a system.

Heat, Glare, and Daylight Performance

LLumar’s Safety-and-Security guide specification lists this configuration at 55% of total solar energy rejected, a 48% reduction in summer solar heat gain and 57% glare reduction, measured under NFRC-based conditions on single-pane, 1/8-inch clear glass. At 39% visible light transmission, rooms stay usefully bright while direct sun is noticeably softened. Actual results vary with your glass.

UV, Infrared, and Interior Protection

The film blocks more than 99% of ultraviolet rays in the tested 300-380 nm range, which helps slow fading of floors, furniture, fabrics and artwork. No film stops fading entirely, because visible light, heat and humidity contribute too.

Reflectivity, Views, and Privacy

Mirage V38 is more reflective on the outside than the inside, which helps keep outward views clear; ask us for this safety version’s own reflectance figures, which the current data sheets do not list. Daytime privacy varies with lighting, glass and viewing angle, so it is never guaranteed, and window film does not give privacy at night: when the room is brighter than outside, blinds or shades are needed.

Availability and Installation

Mirage Safety V38 SR PS8 is a special-order configuration. It appears in LLumar’s Safety-and-Security guide specification but not in the latest Vista performance overview, so we confirm current availability and warranty terms with Eastman before quoting. It is installed on the interior side of compatible glass, and final suitability depends on the glass type, pane configuration, coatings, framing and orientation. Request a residential or commercial assessment.
