With 29% visible light transmission on single-pane, 1/8-inch clear glass, it provides a deliberate balance between daylight and solar control. Its blue-gray 4-mil safety appearance helps designers, owners, and facility teams coordinate the glass with the surrounding architecture. The product is well suited to homes and commercial properties where glass-breakage risk and solar control both matter, especially when untreated windows create comfort, glare, fading, or energy-management concerns.

Heat, Glare, and Daylight Performance

Under the manufacturer’s stated NFRC-based test conditions, Luminance Safety V28 SR PS4 rejects 63% of total solar energy and reduces summer solar heat gain by 57%. This can help moderate hot spots near windows and may reduce cooling demand during sunny weather. The film also provides 68% glare reduction, which can improve comfort around televisions, computers, displays, work surfaces, and customer areas. Because it transmits 29% of visible light, the selected shade should be matched to the room’s daylight goals rather than judged by heat rejection alone.

UV, Infrared, and Interior Protection

The film blocks more than 99% of ultraviolet rays in the tested 300-380 nm range. Reducing UV exposure can help slow premature fading of flooring, furniture, fabrics, artwork, merchandise, and other finishes. No film can eliminate fading because visible light, heat, humidity, and material composition also contribute. Luminance Safety V28 SR PS4 provides 66% infrared energy rejection and 80% selective infrared rejection under two different manufacturer measurements. These values are useful supporting indicators, while total solar energy rejected provides the broader measure of overall solar performance.

Reflectivity, Views, and Privacy

Visible reflectance reaches approximately 32% on the exterior and 20% on the interior. These figures explain how noticeable finished glass appears from each side. Reflections may affect outward views. Daytime privacy varies with lighting conditions, film shade, glass, and viewing angle. You should never guarantee daytime privacy. Window film does not create nighttime privacy. When interior brightness exceeds outside light, you need blinds, shades, curtains, or another covering for privacy.

The heavy-duty polyester and adhesive system work together. They help hold glass fragments together if impact and breakage occur. This fragment containment feature provides interior protection during impact. Safety film is not bulletproof. It does not prevent glass from breaking. You must specify it as part of an appropriate tested glazing system when a particular threat or standard applies.
