About the series

What Dual-Reflective is for

Solar Control films in the Dual-Reflective range, running from 10% visible light at the darkest to 46% at the lightest. Interior applied, Dual-Reflective rejects 47% to 80% of the solar energy hitting the glass on the manufacturer's test glass, depending on the film, and every film in the series blocks more than 99% of ultraviolet. Which one suits a room depends on how much daylight you want to keep, which is why we check it against your own glass before quoting.

Every film here is fitted to the interior face of the glass and is covered by both the manufacturer warranty and our own warranty on the installation. Performance figures below are the manufacturer's, measured on 1/8in (3mm) Single Clear; your own glass will differ, which is why we measure on site before quoting.

Choosing

Three numbers decide it

Every film in this series trades the same three things against each other. Once you know which one matters most in the room, the choice narrows to one or two films.

01

Visible light

How much daylight comes through. This series runs 10% to 46%. Lower is darker and more private, higher keeps the room bright and the view closer to untreated glass.

02

Heat rejected

How much solar energy is turned away before it reaches the room, up to 80% here. This is what a west-facing room in August actually feels. It usually moves in the opposite direction to visible light.

03

Glare reduction

How much the harsh, squinting brightness is taken off. Worth weighting heavily around televisions, monitors, work surfaces and anywhere someone faces the window.

Questions

Before you decide

No, and that is deliberate. Film is cut and fitted to the glass it goes on, so every job is priced after someone has seen it. Send us the rooms and we will book a free estimate.

Start with how much daylight you want to keep. This series runs 10% to 46% visible light. Once that is settled, the heat and glare figures in the table above usually leave one obvious choice.

Films in this series cost $16–$18 per square foot, supplied and installed, depending on the model. A 250 square foot project comes to about $4,000 at $16 per square foot, or about $4,500 at $18. The final figure depends on the film, the number of panes, their size and access.

It slows it down considerably. Every film in this series blocks more than 99% of ultraviolet, which is the largest single cause of fading. No film stops fading completely, because visible light, heat and humidity all contribute too.

Residential: limited lifetime manufacturer warranty. Commercial: 15-year limited manufacturer warranty (Ultima V14 SR CDF, Celeste V18 SR CDF, Luminance V28 SR CDF, Mirage V38 SR CDF, Nuance V48 SR CDF); 10-year limited manufacturer warranty (Sunrise Bronze V33BR SR CDF). Each film's page lists its installation conditions and the manufacturer document, and we give you the written terms with your quote. Our own labor warranty covers the installation.

Most homes are finished in a day. We prepare the glass, fit the film and clean up after ourselves. Larger commercial jobs are scheduled around your opening hours.
