SOLYX Blackout: Purpose and Appearance

SOLYX Blackout is a completely opaque black polyester with a high-gloss finish. It stops light and sight altogether. Manufacturer code SXWF-BO. Multi-layered 2 mil polyester, clear solvent-acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, silicone-coated liner. This film is thinner than a standard blackout film, which makes it easier to install. Apply it to interior glass or the outside face of exterior glass. Never apply it to non-tempered glass when facing out.

Privacy, Day and Night

This is one of the few films that is private after dark as well as during the day. Most window film relies on the outside being brighter than the inside. It stops working the moment you turn the lights on. This one is opaque. It transmits no visible light at all, so nobody sees in at any hour. No blinds or curtains are needed to achieve it. The trade is obvious: you cannot see out either. It suits glass where the view was never the point. A bathroom, a stairwell, a partition, a storefront being fitted out. Rather than a window someone sits by.

Published Performance

The manufacturer publishes 0% visible light transmission, 15% exterior visible reflectance, 100% of ultraviolet blocked, 83% of total solar energy rejected, 100% glare reduction. Figures are comparative and measured on the manufacturer’s stated test glazing, so actual results vary with the glass they are applied to.

Warranty and Durability

Five years from installation for interior applications, three years for exterior. Class A to ASTM E84 / NFPA 101. Zero VOC content to EPA method 24.

Film is cut and fitted to the glass it goes on, so every job is quoted after someone has seen it. There is no cart here on purpose.

2. We visit and measure. We check the glass for compatibility and hold samples against your own window in your own light.
3. You get a fixed price. Supplied and installed, no surprises on the day.
4. We install and clean up. Then the manufacturer warranty and our labor warranty both start.
