LLumar SCL SR PS7: Purpose and Appearance

LLumar SCL SR PS7 is a clear, 7-mil safety and security window film designed to help hold broken glass fragments together after impact. It keeps the glass clear, transmitting 89% of visible light on the manufacturer’s 1/8-inch clear test glass, and blocks 99% of UV rays. It provides minimal additional heat and glare control and does not provide visual privacy.

Film does not prevent glass from breaking and is not bulletproof. Forced-entry, storm or other specified protection depends on the complete tested glazing system, including the glass, frame and attachment method where required. OOVO reviews these requirements before recommending a system.

Heat, Glare, and Daylight Performance

Under the manufacturer’s stated NFRC-based test conditions, SCL SR PS7 rejects 15% of total solar energy, reduces summer solar heat gain by 1% and reduces glare by 1%. Those are small changes: this film is chosen for glass-fragment retention and UV protection, not for cooling or glare control. At 89% visible light transmission, rooms keep their daylight.

UV, Infrared, and Interior Protection

The film blocks 99% of ultraviolet rays in the tested 300-380 nm range. Reducing UV exposure can help slow premature fading of flooring, furniture, fabrics, artwork, merchandise, and other finishes. No film can eliminate fading because visible light, heat, humidity, and material composition also contribute. The cited safety or protective-film performance sheet does not publish IRER or SIRR for this model, so no separate infrared percentage is claimed here. Total solar energy rejected is used as the broader measure of solar performance.

Reflectivity, Views, and Privacy

Visible reflectance is approximately 9% on both the exterior and the interior, so the glass looks much as it did before.

As a clear film, it provides no meaningful visual privacy by day or night.

SCL SR PS7 is designed for installation on the interior side of compatible glazing, but final suitability depends on glass type, pane configuration, coatings, edge condition, framing, orientation, shade, and local climate. Performance data is comparative and actual results vary by glazing system. Film is cut and fitted to the glass it goes on, so every job is quoted after someone has seen it. There is no cart here on purpose.

Manufacturer warranty

Interior glass, installed by a LLumar dealer. Films 7 mil and thicker need a manufacturer-approved installer for a valid film and labor warranty. Not transferable.
