LLumar SCL SR PS2: Purpose and Appearance

LLumar SCL SR PS2 is a clear, 2-mil polyester window film, the thinnest in LLumar’s Safety-and-Security range. Its main job is UV screening: it blocks 94% of UV rays, which helps slow fading of floors, furniture and fabrics. Its film and adhesive also help hold glass fragments together if the pane breaks. On the manufacturer’s 1/8-inch clear test glass it transmits 89% of visible light, so the glass keeps its clear appearance.

A 2-mil film gives basic fragment retention; it is not interchangeable with thicker safety and security window film tested for forced entry, storms or blast. Film does not prevent glass from breaking and is not bulletproof, and any specified protection depends on the complete tested glazing system, including the glass, frame and attachment method where required. Heat, Glare, and Daylight Performance

Under the manufacturer’s stated NFRC-based test conditions, SCL SR PS2 rejects 14% of total solar energy, gives no measurable reduction in summer solar heat gain (0%) and reduces glare by 1%. It should not be expected to cool a room or cut glare: it is chosen for UV screening and basic fragment retention. At 89% visible light transmission, rooms keep their daylight.

UV, Infrared, and Interior Protection

The film blocks 94% of ultraviolet rays in the tested 300-380 nm range. Reducing UV exposure can help slow premature fading of flooring, furniture, fabrics, artwork, merchandise, and other finishes. No film can eliminate fading because visible light, heat, humidity, and material composition also contribute. The cited safety or protective-film performance sheet does not publish IRER or SIRR for this model, so no separate infrared percentage is claimed here. Total solar energy rejected is used as the broader measure of solar performance.

Reflectivity, Views, and Privacy

Visible reflectance is approximately 9% on both the exterior and the interior, so the glass looks much as it did before.

As a clear film, it provides no meaningful visual privacy by day or night.

SCL SR PS2 is designed for installation on the interior side of compatible glazing, but final suitability depends on glass type, pane configuration, coatings, edge condition, framing, orientation, shade, and local climate. Film is cut and fitted to the glass it goes on, so every job is quoted after someone has seen it. There is no cart here on purpose.

Manufacturer warranty

Interior glass, installed by a LLumar dealer. Films 7 mil and thicker need a manufacturer-approved installer for a valid film and labor warranty. Not transferable.
