LLumar N1040 SR PS8: Purpose and Appearance

LLumar N1040 SR PS8 is a balanced architectural window film. The manufacturer developed it for solar performance, using heavy-duty polyester to hold broken glass together after an impact. It transmits 39% of visible light on single-pane, 1/8-inch clear glass, creating a deliberate balance between daylight and solar control. Its neutral 8-mil safety appearance helps designers, owners, and facility teams coordinate glass with the surrounding architecture. This product fits homes and commercial properties where both glass-breakage risk and solar control matter, especially when untreated windows create comfort, glare, fading, or energy-management concerns.

Heat, Glare, and Daylight Performance

Under the manufacturer’s stated NFRC-based test conditions, N1040 SR PS8 rejects 47% of total solar energy and reduces summer solar heat gain by 38%. This can help moderate hot spots near windows and may reduce cooling demand during sunny weather. The film also provides 57% glare reduction, which can improve comfort around televisions, computers, displays, work surfaces, and customer areas. Because it transmits 39% of visible light, the selected shade should be matched to the room’s daylight goals rather than judged by heat rejection alone.

UV, Infrared, and Interior Protection

The film blocks more than 99% of ultraviolet rays in the tested 300-380 nm range. Reducing UV exposure can help slow premature fading of flooring, furniture, fabrics, artwork, merchandise, and other finishes. No film can eliminate fading because visible light, heat, humidity, and material composition also contribute. The cited safety or protective-film performance sheet does not publish IRER or SIRR for this model, so no separate infrared percentage is claimed here. Total solar energy rejected is used as the broader measure of solar performance.

Reflectivity, Views, and Privacy

Visible reflectance measures approximately 16% on the exterior and 17% on the interior. These figures show how noticeable the finished glass appears from each side and how reflections affect outward views. Lighting conditions, film shade, glass type, and viewing angles change daytime privacy, so no installation guarantees full privacy. Window film does not create nighttime privacy. When indoor lights are brighter than outdoor light, occupants need blinds, shades, curtains, or other coverings. The heavy-duty polyester and adhesive system hold glass fragments together if impact and breakage occur. Safety film is not bulletproof and does not stop glass from breaking. Project teams must specify it as part of an appropriate tested glazing system when a specific threat or standard applies for solar control applications.

Professional Glass Review and Installation

N1040 SR PS8 is designed for installation on the interior side of compatible glazing, but final suitability depends on glass type, pane configuration, coatings, edge condition, framing, orientation, shade, and local climate. Performance data is comparative and actual results vary by glazing system. OOVO Window Films can inspect the glass, compare model options within the Safety & Security Series, and recommend a product aligned with the property’s comfort, appearance, and performance priorities. Professional preparation and installation also support a clean finish and dependable long-term performance. Request a residential or commercial assessment.
