Labor Warranty

Lifetime Labor Warranty

Our installation workmanship is covered for as long as you own the property.

Effective January 1, 2026 · Revised August 27, 2026

What we cover

01

Defects caused by our installation

OOVO’s Lifetime Labor Warranty covers defects caused by installation technique or workmanship for as long as the original customer who contracted with OOVO owns the property where the film was installed.

This labor warranty is non-transferable and ends upon transfer of property ownership.

What the manufacturer covers

02

Film failure is a separate matter

Film failure or a manufacturing defect is separate from, and does not by itself indicate, a defect in OOVO’s installation process. Manufacturing defects and film performance are governed by the applicable film manufacturer’s warranty.

OOVO Window Films will assist with submitting eligible manufacturer warranty claims.

The standard we work to

03

Inspected against the IWFA guideline

Installed film on flat glass is not expected to have the same level of visual quality as the glass itself. Our criteria apply to the installed film only, not to any defect inherent in the glass — and our labor warranty covers only defects resulting from the installation process, applied according to industry standards set by the International Window Film Association (IWFA).

The inspection criteria and cure-time table on this page are adapted from the IWFA Architectural Visual Inspection Guideline for Applied Window Film. OOVO’s labor-warranty terms are OOVO’s own and are not issued or endorsed by IWFA.

Adhesive cure

04

Film needs time to cure

Installation floats the film onto the glass using a detergent solution. The excess water is squeegeed out, but residual water inevitably remains between film and glass. The time to reach full adhesion is the adhesive cure time, and adhesion increases across that period. Cure time relates to film thickness and coatings, and can be extended or shortened by climate.

Water bubbles, water distortion and water haze during cure are normal and expected — not defects, and not covered under the labor warranty.

Certain films with special high-performance coatings may have longer cure times. We use films obtained through authorized LLumar, Vista and Solar Gard dealer channels, and provide the applicable manufacturer cure-time information.

Acceptance

05

What counts as an acceptable installation

An installation is acceptable if all of the following are unobtrusive when viewed under the conditions below, disregarding effects during visual cure. Inspection may be made within 1 day of installation.

Dirt particles

Hair and fibers

Adhesive gels

Fingerprints

Air bubbles

Water haze

Scores and scratches

Film distortion

Creases

Edge lift

Nicks and tears

Obtrusiveness is judged by looking through the film installation. Our labor warranty covers defects in this category that result from improper installation technique — not from inherent film or glass defects.

How we inspect

06

Installation quality standards

Viewing conditions

Glass with applied film is viewed at right angles from the room side, at not less than 6 feet (2 metres), in natural daylight but not direct sunlight. The normal vision area is assessed, excluding a 2 inch (50mm) band around the perimeter of the unit.

The perimeter band

The 2 inch (50mm) band around the perimeter is assessed the same way, but a small number of particles is acceptable where poor frame condition works against the standard normally achieved. OOVO is not responsible for pre-existing frame defects or damage.

Edge gaps

A small edge gap between the film and the frame is normal. It lets installation water squeegee out and keeps film edges off the frame margin. Thicker safety films may need a slightly wider gap, and a narrower gap is recommended on darker films to minimise the light line. Acceptable gap widths follow the IWFA guideline.

Splices on large panels

Splicing is necessary when both the length and width of the glass exceed the maximum film width. The splice line is not a defect. It should be straight and parallel to one edge of the frame margin, with only a small gap, as set out in the IWFA guideline. Film may be overlapped, spliced or butt jointed.

Claims

07

Filing a labor warranty claim

01

Contact us promptly

Please contact us promptly if you notice an installation concern. There is no 30-day reporting cutoff. Photos and your invoice number are helpful; if you don’t have the invoice number, we can help locate your project.

02

We review each concern

After reviewing your photos and project information, we explain the next steps, including whether an inspection or manufacturer review is needed.

03

Repair at no labor charge

If the issue is confirmed as a covered labor defect, we schedule repair or reinstallation at no labor charge.

04

Timing confirmed with you

Repair or replacement timing depends on the issue, the applicable warranty coverage, film availability, and scheduling. We let you know the expected timing once those details are confirmed. If the original film is discontinued, we offer a reasonably comparable substitute.
